Job Summary: Circle U Foods is hiring an organized, proactive, and detail-oriented R&D Supervisor to help keep our product development lab running efficiently. This role combines hands-on coordination of day-to-day lab activities with oversight of our R&D technicians. You'll manage timelines, order samples, organize documentation, and make sure the right tasks are done on time.
You don't need a science degree—but you do need excellent follow-through, solid communication, and confidence directing others in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities and Skills:
Project & Lab Workflow
- Track and update R&D project status, samples, and timelines
- Set up and maintain physical and digital project files
- Coordinate with the R&D Manager to prioritize daily/weekly task flow
- Keep lab areas organized, supplied, and compliant with internal standards
Sample & Material Management
- Order ingredients, packaging, and supplies for R&D projects
- Label and document incoming samples accurately
- Coordinate outbound shipments and track deliveries
Team Oversight
- Supervise daily activities of R&D Technicians
- Provide task direction and reinforce lab procedures and safety protocols
- Support training and onboarding of new techs
Cross-Functional Support
- Schedule internal R&D meetings and keep records clean
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality Assurance, and technical teams
- Gather and submit ingredients or formula information as needed
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1+ year of experience in production, lab, or administrative environment
- Experience leading or directing others preferred
- Strong organizational skills and follow-through
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and adapt to changing needs
- Comfortable using basic office tools (Word, Excel, shared drives)
- Clear communicator, both written and verbal
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Office and lab-based, with occasional time in production or warehouse
- Potential for standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented setting and collaborate with multiple departments.
- Occasional exposure to a production floor with varying temperatures and noise levels.
Other Duties:
- Follow food safety and quality protocols.
- Follow GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), housekeeping and safe work practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
