Salary: $22.00 per hour
Schedule flexibility: Primarily daytime hours with occasional evening or weekend commitments to accommodate client and employer needs.
JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Employment Specialist to support individuals with IDD in securing and maintaining meaningful employment. The Employment Specialist will work closely with clients, employers, and community partners to develop customized employment plans, provide job coaching, and foster inclusive workplaces throughout New Jersey.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct assessments to identify clients’ strengths, interests, and employment goals.
• Develop individualized employment plans in collaboration with clients, families, and support teams.
• Identify job opportunities by building relationships with local employers and community
organizations.
• Provide job coaching, on-the-job training, and ongoing support to ensure client success and job retention.
• Assist clients with resume building, interview skills, and workplace etiquette.
• Advocate for workplace accommodations and accessibility in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and New Jersey regulations.
• Maintain accurate client records, progress reports, and documentation in accordance with state and organizational standards.
• Collaborate with NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS), and other agencies to coordinate services.
• Educate employers on the benefits of hiring individuals with IDD and promote inclusive
workplace practices.
• Stay informed on best practices, labor market trends, and state regulations related to supported employment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Clean background: Pass state/federal criminal background and Central Registry checks
• Valid NJ driver's license with clean driving record
• Have an Associate’s degree or higher in a related field from an accredited college or
university or have a high school diploma or equivalent with three (3) years of related
experience.
• Be familiar with the demands and expectations of business and industry.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with clients, employers, and
community partners.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Primarily community-based with travel to employer sites and client locations.
• Flexible schedule may include occasional evenings or weekends.
