The Opportunity
We're seeking a Manager of Product Engineering with prior experience in the lighting industry to lead and evolve our engineering team. This is a high-impact, on-site role responsible for driving product innovation, quality, and cost optimization. You will play a pivotal part in shaping our product roadmap, improving reliability, and accelerating go-to-market efforts.
What You'll Do
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Define engineering strategy aligned with company objectives and product vision.
- Manage team performance and project execution to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
Lighting Product Development
- Drive new product development efforts from concept to commercialization.
- Ensure products are designed with manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness in mind.
- Remain up to date with lighting technologies, trends, and industry standards to guide development.
Product Quality Assurance
- Oversee rigorous product validation and testing processes to meet UL, DLC, Energy Star, and customer expectations.
- Implement quality control systems to continuously improve product performance and durability.
- Analyze data and customer feedback to identify areas for quality improvement.
Cost Optimization
- Lead value engineering and cost-down initiatives while maintaining product integrity.
- Collaborate with supply chain and manufacturing to optimize production efficiency and material usage.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Management, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Experience to ensure successful product launches.
- Translate technical details into actionable insights for internal stakeholders.
Process Improvement
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for engineering excellence.
- Champion continuous improvement, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field); Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of product engineering experience within the lighting industry (required).
- Proven success in managing engineering teams and cross-functional projects.
- Strong understanding of LED technology, lighting certifications, and global compliance standards.
- Experience in product lifecycle management, from R&D through mass production.
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
