Position Summary:
The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting activities, while positioning the company for future growth plans. This role will lead the strategic transition of finance functions from a centralized shared services model to a business unit-aligned structure to support scalability and unit-level accountability. The Controller will manage the business unit accounting functions, interface with Shared Services finance group, manage month-end close out activities, strengthen internal controls, and provide critical financial insights to fuel aggressive growth and investor confidence.
What you will be doing:
- Accounting Operations: Manage and/or oversee core accounting functions, including accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), payroll, general ledger, and revenue recognition. Implement robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure audit-ready processes. Review contracts and prepare IFRS technical accounting assessments, as needed. Prepare and review working papers to support quarterly and annual financial reporting and manage external audit queries. Continuously assess and implement improvements to accounting processes, driving efficiency and scalability. Maintain and monitor internal controls over financial reporting to ensure strong design, documentation, and operational effectiveness.
- Financial Reporting and FP & A: Preparation of accurate, timely financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements), and FP&A of key value metrics.
- Transition to Business Unit Finance: Optimize and execute the finance function transition plan from shared services to a decentralized, business unit-specific model. Partner with cybersecurity product and service unit leaders to establish unit-level budgeting, reporting, and cost allocation frameworks that support rapid growth.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasts, aligning financial plans with aggressive revenue targets and business unit objectives. Provide cash flow projections to support M&A, R&D investments, and positioning for future growth.
- Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing finance function, fostering agility and scalability to support growth and transition. Oversee hiring and training to align with business unit needs.
- Strategic Support: Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to provide data-driven insights for investor presentations, board meetings, and strategic initiatives. Deliver unit-specific and consolidated financial reports to drive operational efficiency and growth. Support integration activities for newly acquired companies to support organizational objectives and resiliency and.
- Process Improvement & Technology: Optimize accounting systems, and workflows to support decentralized finance operations and strong governance, controls and compliance. Leverage automation and analytics to enhance reporting accuracy and scalability.
You have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (required). MBA or master’s in accounting preferred. CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Experience: Progressive accounting experience, with 4+ years in a Controller or senior finance role, ideally in a high-growth tech or cybersecurity company.
- Skills:
- Proven ability to lead complex finance transitions in fast-paced, growth-driven environments.
- Proficiency in accounting/ERP systems (e.g., Dynamics) and advanced Excel skills.
- Exceptional project management, leadership, and communication skills to align cross-functional teams and engage with investors.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance detail-oriented execution and big-picture growth objectives.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with cybersecurity or, including R&D cost accounting and high-growth financial strategies, is a plus.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid or remote work options available, with regular in-office collaboration at headquarters as needed.
- Travel to business unit locations or investor meetings as needed.
