Scope of Job
The IHI Terrasun Solutions is looking for a Field Commissioning Superintendent to supervise the commissioning of large battery storage projects. The ideal person will provide customers with technical direction and support for ITS systems, including hands-on installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of these products. The Field Commissioning Superintendent must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users and must be able to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the system life. While this position may not have any direct reports, the Field Commissioning Superintendent will take on a leadership position on site, overseeing the work of vendors, suppliers, and other site staff while also coordinating with IHI Terrasun Project Management, Engineering and Sales staff. The selected candidate can expect a fast-paced, exciting learning environment as we move into the next phase of business growth.
Coordinate activities with customers, third-party vendors, and internal workgroups to ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery of commissioning activities. Lead on-site BESS commissioning and acceptance testing with support from remote commissioning engineers and on-site OEM teams. Provide on-site technical advice and training to coworkers and authorized personnel as needed per the scope of the project. Lead daily on-site POD and/or JSA tailgate meetings as per scope of the project. Complete and submit all required documentation and reporting including daily reports, checklists, field reports, commissioning reports, scheduled service reports, quality issues, and non-conformance reporting. Develop and execute commissioning plans, including resourcing, logistics, and scheduling as required. Work directly with HVAC, FSS, OEM, and any other certified technician to complete their scope of the project. Lead Planning and Scheduling of technician activities in the field using CMMS tool. Ensure Work Orders are closed as work is completed. Work directly with EHS Management to ensure all Field Service Engineers are compliant in training and daily EHS requirements including, but not limited to, JSA and LOTO completion, site inspections, etc. Provide technical consultation to technical and commercial counterparts, including communications with Field Service Engineers, Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and Logistics. Communicate customer feedback to internal stakeholders. Conduct training of customer personnel via a train-the-trainer program to enable them to operate equipment safely and effectively. Support the development and updates of installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting documentation by providing well documented and constructive feedback. Participate in any continuous improvement activities. Requirements: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or similar (4-year degree) or 8+ years relevant experience in field engineering & services in electrical power equipment or energy space. Experience with high power electrical equipment and work. Demonstrated ability to exceed individual performance goals and to work with engineering & sales personnel to achieve team objectives. Self-directed, highly detail-oriented, organized, and flexible. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Accomplishments that reflect leadership, teamwork, integrity, and accountability. A willingness to travel and work with customers at project sites and manufacturing facilities is essential. Desirable: Advanced degree in a technical field such as EE, ME, or Computer Science/Engineering. NABCEP ESIP/PVIP Certification preferred. Knowledge of detailed requirements for a broad range of battery applications. Demonstrated ability to manage, analyze, and interpret data. Knowledge of battery standards, regulations, and safety procedures. Demonstrated accomplishments in meeting project/program goals, while satisfying quality, performance, schedule, and cost requirements. Project and people management experience. Demonstrated accomplishments in customer-focused problem-solving Work Environment & Physical Demands. Work is performed at remote customer project locations. When working at a customer project site or supplier facility, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be worn for safety purposes. Work Environment & Physical Demands IMPORTANT: Work is performed in the field, in an outdoor environment, which can vary widely in temperatures and conditions. Employee must be able to work in outdoor conditions, with temperatures sometimes exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and be able to follow all safety standards, rules, and regulations for working in hot environments. Employee must be able to stand, walk, and carry, and lift at least 50 pounds. Employees will be working in a High Voltage environment electrical equipment. When working at a customer project site or supplier facility, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be worn for safety purposes. This position is considered a "safety-sensitive" position and may have a drug-testing requirement for new hires. It may also require randomized drug testing throughout employment. Travel & Location: The position is remote, and involves 100% travel to customer sites during project execution. Compensation This is a salaried, exempt position that is not eligible for overtime wages. The salary range is $115,000 - $145,000. Salary will be commiserate with experience and expertise.
