Senior Director, Corporate Relations
The Senior Director of Corporate Relations is responsible for strategically leading, building, and sustaining mutually beneficial relationships with corporations to support the mission of The Tech Interactive.The Senior Director will serve as the primary staff lead in support of The Tech Challenge Committee.The Tech Challenge (a year-long youth engineering program). The Senior Director of Corporate Relations works with and administratively leads the executive committee to recruit corporate sponsors. The Senior Director of Corporate Relations is a numbers-driven, proven fundraising leader who is collaborative, believes in solving problems, and is great at building and maintaining relationships. This exempt role reports to the Vice President of Development.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of top corporate relationships through all phases of the relationship cycle, including identification of opportunities, discovery meetings with executives, strategy development, cultivation meetings, proposal preparation, closing, and stewarding gifts.
- Serve on and assign staff to The Tech Challenge Executive Committee to ensure members are informed and provided necessary resources to help open doors to new sponsors.
- Design The Tech Challenge committee strategy, working with high-level executives to create and execute a plan to reach a $900K goal.
- Initiate face-to-face visits with corporate personnel at their location and The Tech Interactive; coordinate and prepare briefings for these visits for appropriate Tech staff, volunteers, and leadership. Debrief and follow-up after these visits.
- Work independently and in partnership with others to compose, edit, and coordinate written materials, including proposals and budgets. Ensure that appropriate stewardship is conducted and participate directly in the stewardship process as appropriate.
- Be The Tech's expert on corporate fundraising for operating, scholarships, exhibits, and other capital projects. Work with VP of Development and CEO to identify potential corporate campaign donors, working through the process to determine the best ask, write the proposal, and make the pitch;
- Coach leadership, volunteers, and staff directly in implementing strategies.
- Oversee Corporate Relations team members to meet goals and develop careers.
- Complete additional related tasks or duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.
Requirements and Skills
- Bachelor"s degree or equivalent level of education and experience in related areas - communications, business administration, social sciences, nonprofit management.
- 8+ years of experience in corporate fundraising with demonstrated success in achieving fundraising goals, making 6- and 7-figure asks, and stewarding executive donors.
- Prior experience developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies with a strong sense of sales, including prospecting, persistence, and building pipelines.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and conduct successful meetings with C-level executives, board members, volunteers, and executive staff.
- Ability to thrive in a complex and dynamic environment and manage competing priorities.
- Experience supervising staff, providing feedback, and supporting professional development.
Working Conditions and Schedule
- This is an on-site role with the possibility of flexibility for working some days at an alternative work location. Flexibility will vary depending on the needs of the job.
- Working occasional evenings and weekends will be required.
