POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Surgery Aide Directs staff in day-to-day assignments, schedules coverage for vacations or call offs.
Ensure that training is provided for new staff in servicing. When needed, takes a position assignment to cover missing sections. Monitors department environmental conditions to ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
The Surgery Aide duties when needed: performs a wide variety of tasks related to the preparation and maintenance of the surgical and endoscopic suites as it relates to environmental cleaning. Performs routine “turn over” cleaning and preparation between cases as well as terminal cleaning and routine environmental maintenance of OR suites, pre-op/holding, PACU and endoscopy rooms. Other duties include stocking of supplies and equipment.
The primary patients provided for in the Surgical Services Department are adults and geriatric patients. Pediatric patients are occasionally admitted. For this position: duties, tasks and responsibilities are consistent regardless of the age of the patient. No direct patient care is performed.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Licensure:
Experience:
- Two years’ experience in surgery or environmental services preferred.
- Previous experience in the surgery environment highly preferred.
Other skills:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in stressful situations.
- Must be in good physical condition to meet the demands of the position.
- Basic Computer Skills.
- Speak, read and write English to effectively perform job duties.
