Director of Development
The Director of Development is a key leader responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive annual fundraising campaigns to support the mission and growth of The Tech Interactive.
Working in partnership with the Manager of Membership and Annual Giving, this role focuses on acquiring, retaining, and upgrading donors through multi-channel campaigns, personalized appeals, and targeted stewardship. The Director plays a key role in building donor loyalty, expanding community support, and advancing the culture of philanthropy.
Responsibilities
Annual Giving Strategy & Campaign Management
- Develop and manage a robust annual giving plan that includes direct mail, email, social media, peer-to-peer, and digital campaigns.
- Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to produce compelling and donor-centered messaging and materials.
- Lead segmentation, testing, and analytics to improve performance and donor response rates.
- Set goals for donor acquisition, retention, and revenue growth; monitor and adjust strategies as needed.
Manage a small portfolio of individual and corporate donors
- Cultivate and steward a portfolio of annual donors, with an emphasis on leadership annual giving and event sponsorships ($1,000–$10,000).
- Coordinate with major gift officers to identify and elevate annual donors with major gift potential.
- Support development events and donor-facing activities that drive annual giving participation.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Development Operations and Events in planning for donor recognition events and cultivation activities.
Lead Development communications
- Work with the Stewardship Coordinator and marketing team to create impact and annual reports.
Requirements and Skills
- 7+ years nonprofit development experience.
- Bachelor"s degree or equivalent level of education and experience in related areas - communications, business administration, social sciences, nonprofit management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and conduct successful meetings with high profile donors, C-level executives, board members, volunteers, and executive staff.
- Ability to thrive in a complex and dynamic environment and to manage competing priorities while staying focused on the need to continually network, create new, authentic relationships, and bring funders to The Tech.
- Experience managing committees to achieve fundraising goals.
- Experience using a CRM system to track relationships and meet fundraising goals.
Working Conditions and Schedule
- This is a hybrid role with the flexibility for working some days at an alternative work location.
- Working occasional evenings and weekends will be required.
