About the role
We're hiring a hands-on Ecommerce Manager to lead our Shopify storefront, conversion strategy, and digital shopping experience. This is an execution-focused role that requires technical skill, analytical thinking, and an instinct for brand storytelling that drives results.
Success in this role means balancing the art and science of ecommerce—using data, testing, and customer insights to drive performance while ensuring that every touchpoint reflects the quality and voice of the Smithey brand. You'll drive improvements across site functionality, data insights, and storytelling to build an ecommerce experience that turns visitors into loyal customers.
Beyond guiding our merchandising and shopping experience, you'll play a key role in our broader marketing strategy, ensuring that each visit to the site aligns with the funnel, campaign, or creative that brought the customer in.
You're proactive, curious, and solutions oriented. You keep up with the latest tools and technologies to ensure Smithey's ecommerce presence remains best-in-class. You bring a mindset of optimism, persistence, and curiosity to technical challenges—and your natural planning and organizational skills ensure projects ship on time and insights are shared to inform and improve future campaigns.
What you"ll do
Drive the Ecommerce Experience
- Manage daily operations of our Shopify Plus storefront, including merchandising, content updates, promotion execution, and tech stack management for both our DTC and B2B storefronts.
- Ensure a seamless, intuitive, and visually compelling customer experience—especially on mobile.
- Plan and execute ecommerce projects in collaboration with third-party partners (designers, developers, freelancers).
- Troubleshoot site issues and manage updates as needed.
- Develop and optimize landing pages and on-site messaging to improve conversion from campaign traffic.
Use Data to Drive Performance
- Own GA4 and Shopify analytics—not just tracking KPIs, but turning them into actionable insights.
- Continuously analyze the customer journey to identify opportunities to reduce friction, improve conversion rates, and increase AOV.
- Design and run A/B tests to improve landing pages, PDPs, and checkout flow.
- Use heatmaps, session recordings, and behavioral data to uncover friction points and drive UX decisions.
Collaborate Across Growth & Marketing
- Work with paid media teams (Meta, Google, email, Pinterest, linear TV) to ensure alignment between paid media traffic and on-site experience.
- Collaborate with customer support to gather and leverage post-purchase insights, refine retention strategies, and eliminate barriers to purchase.
- Ensure accurate tracking, attribution, and reporting to support smart budget allocation and performance reviews.
Manage Tools, Partners & Projects
- Oversee Shopify integrations, third-party tools, and custom site development projects.
- Lead ecommerce projects from planning to execution—keeping them on time, on budget, and aligned with business goals.
- Manage external partners (developers, agencies, freelancers) and internal collaborators (CX, fulfillment, marketing, NPD) to support launches, promotions, and campaigns.
Qualifications
- Analytical and data-driven—you rely on quantitative insights and metrics to guide decision-making.
- You have strong Shopify Plus experience. You're comfortable managing themes and troubleshooting site performance.
- You understand how brand storytelling drives sales. You"re a storyteller at heart, skilled at positioning products in a way that connects with customers, using thoughtful messaging and presentation to influence buying behavior and drive conversions.
- Customer-centric—you understand what makes an ecommerce experience intuitive and seamless—and you're always looking for ways to refine it.
- Execution-focused and organized—you keep projects moving and know how to prioritize.
- Fluent in full-funnel thinking—you understand how ecommerce and paid media work together. You recognize that a great website doesn't just look good—it needs to convert the traffic that marketing brings in.
- Collaborative and communicative—you work well across departments and communicate clearly with both leadership and peers.
- Curious and iterative—you're always asking, Why is this happening? What can we test? How do we make it better?
PREFERRED TOOLS & EXPERIENCE
- Familiarity with tools like Figma, Klaviyo, Replo, Rebuy, GA4, A/B testing tools, and Google Tag Manager.
- Bonus: Familiarity with GitHub, NetSuite, ShipHero, Re:amaze, Adobe Creative Suite, & basic HTML/CSS/Liquid.
