What is Natural Environment Teaching (NET)
Natural Environment Teaching is a term that is used when skills are taught or generalized within the natural environment. For example, you might teach a student to receptively and expressively label colors of items at the table. Then, during NET the student would get to practice the skill by labeling colors of crayons that you're coloring with or asking for colors of playdoh that you're playing with.
POSITION SUMMARY:
At CFNB, our NET workers work with the clients in a natural environment setting. This can include playing with the child and engaging them in toys or activities based on their plan of care. NET workers typically help out in the playroom watching and engaging several children at a time while their primary workers get materials or step away as needed. NET workers may also have a few clients of their own once they get comfortable. NET workers may also be called to help clean toys or other like tasks as needed by therapists and office staff. Upon graduation, NET workers are eligible to become Registered Behavior Technicians and take on their own caseload of clients to continue moving forward in the field.
