Come Join Hygea Healthcare as we open a new Detox facility in Middle River, MD. Our Middle River facility has 50 beds. We are looking for energetic nurses who want to be a part of an innovative and technology driven program.
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) assesses, plans, provides, and evaluates preventative, therapeutic and patient rehabilitative care. The RN promotes and restores patients" health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients; providing safe medication and emergency and withdrawal management. The RN appropriately delegates tasks to nursing support staff.
Essential Job Functions
- Conducts nursing assessments for new admissions and follow-up evaluations.
- Dispenses medication according to the 5 R"s (right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, right time).
- Assures competency in the use of emergency and clinical equipment as evidenced by the proper use of Glucometer, Breathalyzer, Nebulizer, emergency response equipment and drugs.
- Assures competency in the management of the following emergency conditions: Chest pain, SOB/Dyspnea, Seizures, Hypo/Hyperglycemia.
- Assures knowledge of pain management as evidenced of ability to assess pain level utilizing pain scale, development of the treatment plan, explain comfort measures and reassesses per policy.
- Develops appropriate treatment plans. Completes required documentation per policy. Knows how and when to report cases of abuse (sexual, physical, elder) and child neglect.
- Demonstrates competency in applying development and age-related knowledge in the care of patients for all adult age groups.
- Protects personally identifiable health information; adheres to release of information per policy and procedure (written, oral and electronic). Respects patients and all customer groups" privacy and confidentiality. Adheres to IT and business-related communications confidentiality policies.
- Alert to opportunities to reduce risks of accidents or potential safety and security breaches. Routinely follows safety and security policies and procedures.
- Reports all safety related incidents in a timely and complete manner; completes accident and incident reports correctly.
- Participates in mandatory safety training sessions; participates in fire and disaster drills.
Education and Experience
- Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Active Registered Nurse license in Maryland or compact states required
- Active BLS certification required
- One-year experience in Acute Care, Med/Surg, or related nursing experience required. Addiction or Psychiatric Nurse experience preferred.
- Ability to read medical documents, such as doctor"s orders, psychological evaluations, dietitian assessments and write routine reports. Communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Accurately measure medical dosages as prescribed by the Medical Staff. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Common sense understanding to carry out detailed medical instructions. Be sensitive to the needs of chemically dependent patients. Ability to learn and adapt. Ability to direct others. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must use computer equipment and telephone to communicate and accurately document information.
