The overnight engineer is responsible for responding to and attending to all guest repair requests. Communicate with all guests and customers in a professional and courteous manner in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.
Key Responsibilities include:
Guest Repair Requests and Maintenance:
- Respond promptly to all guest repair requests while maintaining clear communication with guests and customers.
- Perform maintenance on tools, kitchen, and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and visually inspecting equipment and machines to ensure proper functioning.
Equipment Operation and Inventory:
- Carry necessary equipment such as radio, tools, and related items for efficient maintenance tasks.
- Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off isolation valves for equipment and utility shut-offs for buildings as needed.
- Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as required to support maintenance activities.
Communication and Knowledge:
- Communicate all shift activities and issues both verbally and in writing in the engineering pass-on log to ensure effective communication with other shift engineers.
- Demonstrate knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge in various maintenance categories including HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance.
Preventative Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform preventative maintenance on all electrical, mechanical, and kitchen equipment to prevent potential issues and ensure optimal performance.
- Test, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on various types of equipment, including plumbing, electrical switches, and guestroom items, following safety procedures.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow documented Lockout/Tagout procedures before performing maintenance work on equipment with an energy source.
- Perform repairs on landscaping sprinklers and ensure compliance with company safety and security policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements and Miscellaneous Duties:
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 50lbs and perform heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance as needed.
- Navigate stairs, service ramps, and ladders as required, reaching overhead and below the knees, and performing bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping movements.
- Utilize basic computer skills for inputting information into the engineering building maintenance system and perform any other reasonable job duties as requested.
What you will bring:
- Ability to work after hours/overnight schedule.
- Three to five years' previous maintenance experience is required, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds. Physical requirements include but are limited to prolonged walking and standing, bending, and stooping.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
