Registered Nurse
Position: RN
Department: FLOAT POOL
Reports to: Float Pool Director
Created: 5/13/25
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse – Float Pool will provide nursing care to a wide variety of patients within SCRMC. During every shift, the Registered Nurse – Float Pool will be a member of a nursing team that provides direct nursing care to a specific unit within the hospital. It is quite conceivable that a Registered Nurse – Float Pool may start their shift in one clinic and then, based on a change in census and acuity, be transferred or moved to a different clinic to meet operational requirements. However, it is possible that a Registered Nurse – Float Pool may spend extended periods of time in one clinic to help balance off long-term absences (i.e. illness, holidays, maternity leave, etc.). While working within a clinic, the Registered Nurse – Float Pool acts as a patient advocate and facilitates communication between the patient, family and other health care professionals. This will result in an approach to planning, organizing, teaching and relationship development that will best meet the needs of the patient.
Based on patient census and acuity throughout SCRMC Clinics, the incumbent may be required to provide standardized nursing care to any and/or all of the clinics within the scope of a RN's practice.
- Full-time float nurses are required to meet standards that are stated in the employee handbook.
- Vacation time must be requested to Clinic Administration for approval. All full-time float employees are scheduled by Clinic Administration.
As a Clinic Float Nurse, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes and contribute to the efficient operation of SCRMC clinics. Your dedication to compassionate care and clinical excellence will be valued as you support our mission to provide accessible healthcare services to our community.
