Summary
Primary responsibility will involve either Postal, or Records Storage Scanning/Indexing however, individuals will be trained and expected to be proficient in all areas in order to provide additional support where needed. Responsible for the protection of confidentiality of data at all times.
Postal: Responsible for sorting/distribution of incoming mail. Responsible for weighing, and applying appropriate postage to outgoing mail. Makes routine route deliveries to PRMC and Randallia mail rooms. Operates mail equipment.
Records Storage/Scanning/Indexing: Responsible for storing boxes of medical records using the current department software and the storage request form completed by customer. Ensures that each box is labeled and stored according to the department markings on the box label. Responsible for retrieving requested patient records and getting the requested information to the customer by either scanning it or sending the file through courier. Responsible for sending empty record storage boxes to the customer when requested. Works collaboratively with Parkview's medical record department to retrieve records when needed, Does monthly pull of records to be destroyed by destruction date on box and prepares them for destruction. Prepares a complete list of all boxes destroyed monthly for billing purposes. Scans and saves daily Laboratory requisitions for billing. Operates lift equipment and pallet moving equipment. Scans pertinent Health Data Elements (HDE) into electronic health records, used as historical health information and financial information for archiving. Indexes into the Scan File Cabinet by posting date, control group number, and poster’s initials. Maintains scanned data within each departmental file cabinets, including hard copy if needed within Central Distribution Center. Responsible for user support of CDC automated scanned functions, including user set-up and maintenance. Provides adhoc specialized reports of scanned documents for requesting departments.
Education
Must have a high school education or the equivalent (GED).
Licensure/Certification
Must have a valid drivers license.
Experience
Prefer one of the following: print shop equipment operation experience, preferably in a digital environment; or postal services experience.
Other Qualifications
Must be able to type 25 wpm. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Demonstrates ability to drive and operate a work assist lift vehicle. Demonstrates proficiency in use of a PC, including a basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint. Must have good verbal and communication skills.
