Melmark is a nonprofit organization providing clinically-sophisticated evidence-based special education, residential, vocational, and therapeutic services for children and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, developmental and intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, medical complexities, and other neurological and genetic disorders.
Executive Director Overview:
The Executive Director leads the Massachusetts division of Melmark, overseeing all operations, regulatory compliance, and strategic initiatives. This position is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, mission-aligned programs including private school, residential, early intervention, and day services. The ideal candidate brings deep clinical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a proven record in executive-level oversight. Requirements:
• Doctorate in Psychology or Education preferred; Master’s degree required in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or Public Health
• Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification required
• At least 10 years of senior administrative and organizational supervision in an applied community setting
• Strong clinical background in applied behavior analysis for individuals with acquired brain injury, neurological disorders, and autism spectrum disorders
Executive Director Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic and operational leadership for all Melmark New England programs and services
• Develop and implement short- and long-term strategic goals in partnership with the C-suite
• Oversee compliance with all regulatory/licensing agencies including DESE, DDS, DPH, and DEEC
• Ensure financial sustainability through budget oversight and collaboration with Finance
• Lead and support the Massachusetts Leadership Team across clinical, operational, and educational domains
• Represent Melmark with state advocacy groups such as MAAPS, ADDP, BABAT, and MassABA
• Participate in advancement and fundraising activities in collaboration with Development staff
• Ensure consistent implementation of policies, procedures, and quality standards
• Serve as liaison to the Board of Directors and on internal committees including Corporate Compliance
• Oversee research, training, and professional development initiatives
• Maintain effective communication with funding agencies, families, and community stakeholders
