Position Summary
Responsible for scheduling, pre-registration and verification of benefits for hospital patients. Determines if patient’s benefits will cover services provided by Shore Medical Center, level of assistance for patients who have insufficient insurance coverage and identifies patients who have financial responsibility after insurance. Pre-encounter Collections is provided within the realm of this position.
Core Responsibilities
• Perform insurance eligibility and verification status checks on services for all payors according to standard operating procedures.
• Enters insurance eligibility and verification status in systems.
• Obtains precertification and referrals and documents accordingly in registration systems.
• Insures accuracy of patient demographics.
• Informs patients of out of pocket expenses for services provided.
Minimum Requirements
• Insurance Verification/Authorization Experience
• Ability to walk/stand for extended period of times
• Ability to lift, push, pull
• Intermediate Computer/Keyboard/Word Processing Skills
• Strong Interpersonal/Communication/Organizational Skills
• Detail Oriented/Must be able to work independently
• ICD Coding Experience
• 2 Years Office/Secretarial Experience in Medical Setting
• CPT Experience
Preferred Requirements
• Outpatient Scheduling Experience
• Spreadsheet Application Experience
• AS 400 Experience
• Procedural Scheduling Experience
