Reporting to the Director of HIS, this position is responsible for coordinating policies, procedures, services and systems of Health Information Services on the RMC and Jacksonville hospitals to include transcription, coding & abstracting, medical record completion, storage, and retrieval, maintain the integrity of health information, effectively manage the collection of health information and promote best practices, release of information, legal and regulatory requirements as related to the EHR and accepted medical record standards of practice. Develop and oversee processes in the HIS Department. Ensure that HIS process and controls are evaluated against the organizations’ internal and external information needs on an ongoing basis. The individual in this position also serves as the Assistant Privacy Officer for the all facilities. The Assistant will assist the Director in the organization, direction, and coordination of all administrative functions of both campuses and may serve as the Acting Director in the Directors absence. Administrative functions may include direction of resources, human resources and information resource management, logistics, facility and health information management activities.
BS degree in Health Information Management with RHIA or RHIT certification with American Health Information Management Association or equivalent experience in Health Information Management.
Three to five years of supervisory and administrative experience in health information practices, demonstrating current knowledge for entire health records function.
Knowledge and experience working with computers, information systems, and software relating to medical records.
