About the role
As a Senior Accountant, you will perform full cycle accounting from booking journal entries to preparing monthly financial statements. The ideal candidate will also provide insightful financial analysis to support our continued growth.
What you"ll do
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements and cash reconciliation reports to management.
- Support financial forecasting and budgeting by analyzing historic trends.
- Assist in period-end closing processes, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Compliance and Process Improvement:
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting standards in a hospitality setting.
- Propose and implement improvements to streamline the accounting and finance functions.
- Cash Reconciliation:
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of bank and store cash deposits.
- Investigate and resolve variances between POS cash reports, bank statements, and ledger records.
- Coordinate with store managers and banks to address discrepancies and improve deposit accuracy.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all cash-related transactions.
- Accounts Receivable Processing:
- Manage AR activities related to catering, wholesale, and event clients.
- Generate accurate invoices and ensure timely collection of payments (as applicable).
- Monitor AR aging reports and follow up with customers on overdue accounts.
- Resolve client billing issues professionally and efficiently.
- Restaurant Inventory software management.
- Team Collaboration and Leadership:
- Communicate regularly with employees in each business unit to obtain relevant information for your role.
- Create scalable processes and procedures for the accounting and finance functions as the company grows.
- Collaborate with store operations, catering managers, and customer service teams to explain financial information in an accurate and understandable manner.
- Act as a subject matter expert for the accounting and finance functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA preferred.
- 4–6 years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality or food service.
- Strong knowledge of POS systems, bank reconciliations, and AR processes.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar).
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with multiple retail or restaurant locations.
- Familiarity with catering or wholesale invoicing systems.
- Understanding of GAAP and audit processes.
Salary range for this position is $75,000 – $90,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
