The Dallas Symphony is seeking their next Stage Manager. The Stage Manager organizes and supervises stagehands, stage sets, and equipment for all Dallas Symphony productions and events in a highly professional manner.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise and implement stage sets for all orchestra services and related events while working collaboratively with the Director of Orchestra Operations & Pops Programming and Manager of Orchestra Personnel for staging decisions.
- Call all shows in consultation with the Director of Orchestra Operations & Pops Programming, Manager of Orchestra Personnel, and artistic operations team.
- Create and distribute stage plots to artistic operations team, Manager of Orchestra Personnel and others as assigned.
- Serve as the primary point-of-contact for technical production information for Dallas Symphony concerts inside and outside of the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center.
- Attend regular production meetings and facilitate communication between artistic operations team and technical personnel.
- In consultation with the Director of Orchestra Operations & Pops Programming, acquire all backline, sound, lighting, and miscellaneous equipment required for orchestra services and related events.
- Monitor and maintain all concert production equipment and storage areas for DSO equipment at the highest standards.
- Responsible for managing the Assistant Stage Manager, Lighting Technician, and all IATSE stagehands in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, to include: interviewing, hiring, training, directing work, appraising performance, monitoring and maintaining professional decorum, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems, creating and distributing weekly/monthly work schedules with consideration to the appropriate number of stagehands needed for each call and budget parameters, and accurately preparing biweekly payroll.
