Description:
The Applications Engineer – Media will assist with project costing and design for projects in the bidding phase, specifically for media. Specification review, project takeoffs, technical document generation, internal/external customer communication, and technical engineering support are key aspects of this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the sales department to impact equipment design and build project costs when bidding projects.
- Read project plans and specifications and provide detailedreviews of media requirements.
- Create technical support documents to illustrate the design approach for bidding projects.
- Continuously seek ways to improve the design/bidding process and communications.
- Work with vendors to acquire quotes for filtration media.
- Meet bid timelines.
- Media Application engineering for projects. This includes evaluating water quality, the performance of GAC, IX resins, Organo Clay (Fluorosorb), and other medias for the removal of PFAS and other contaminants of concern.
- Media Sourcing and Procurement assistance – secure GAC and IX resins direct from global suppliers.
- Develop Standard Media specifications by application as it relates to project-based bids.
- QA/QC – development and maintain an active QA/QC process as it relates to media application engineering for projects.
- Establish AV’s NSF certifications for all offered media (GAC/IX resins/Organo Clay)
- Research & Development –establish our own internal R&D initiative as it relates to reaming with clients to search out best solutions based on available application tools
- Education & Training – responsible for coordinating training for the AE and Sales groups upon initial hire and ongoing quarterly refreshers
- Sales and Technical support – this is project related for the evaluation of project presentation, media usage rates, objectively represent each solution from a chemical engineering perspective
- Trade Associations – AWWA, NSF
Qualifications:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be professional, proactive, and positive. Having a passion for exceptional customer service and support is a must. Being sensitive to the unpredictable demands and uncertainties associated with customer service is a requisite to delivering superior results and exceeding the expectations of our customers.
- Must have an BS Degree in Engineering. Chemical preferred.
- Must have 2-4 years of AE experience within the water treatment industry with media expertise.
- Proven experience in a technical role, preferably in applications engineering or pre-sales.
- Must be familiar with RSSCT testing and evaluation procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
- Proficiency with AdDesignS is a plus.
- Must have the ability to review and understand technical specifications, plans, and P&IDs.
