The RN in the Intensive Care Unit provides comprehensive nursing care to adult, geriatric, pediatric and adolescent patients who are critically ill, require intensive nursing care, need close observation or frequent nursing intervention. The majority of patients served are adult and geriatric with a minimal number of pediatric and adolescent patients. The RN provides coronary care, post-op surgical care, intensive care services, cardiac monitoring, hemodynamic monitoring, code blue management, ventilator management, and patient / family education services.
The ICU RN responds to all code blues in the building and manages the code until a physician arrives. The RN provides telemetry services for the medical / surgical care units. Cardiac rehabilitation services are provided to inpatients when ordered. Standards of Care are followed as outlined in the Nursing Policy and Procedure manual.
RN Staff will respond to Rapid Responses and Trauma Activations.
Perform other duties as requested or assigned. Is expected to work varying hours, holidays, and weekends. May be expected to take call.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
- BSN preferred but not required
LICENSE / CERTIFICATION / REGISTRATION:
- Current Kansas RN license or ability to obtain licensure, per Kansas State Board of Nursing regulations.
- BLS - Obtains RQI BLS certification within appropriate quarter (approximately within 3 months of hire), maintains quarterly RQI requirements.
- ALS- Obtains RQI ALS certification within appropriate quarter (approximately within 6 months of hire), maintains quarterly RQI requirements.
- PALS or ENPC- Obtains RQI PALS certification within appropriate quarter (approximately within 6 months of hire), maintains quarterly RQI requirements or satisfactory ENPC course completion with current card or ability to complete within one year or at the next available course offered by NMRMC.
- NRP- Preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- One year experience as an RN preferred, but not required.
- Computer experience preferred, or ability to learn computer operation.
