JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Coffee Shop Manager, the “Barista” maintains principles and processes to promote and sell products through excellent customer service. This includes product knowledge, sales techniques, and evaluation of customer satisfaction while meeting quality standards for service and product consistency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares beverages and/or food per standardized recipes and prepares beverages per customers request.

Maintains counters in a clean, neat, and organized manner.

Unpacks and puts away stock as well as restocking and refilling products as needed.

Washes/rinses blender equipment after each use. Sanitizes equipment on a daily basis.

Maintains and cleans items by hand, i.e., shot glasses, espresso machine, refrigerator, coffee grinder, etc. Put all clean dishes and utensils away after use

Cleans and maintains all storage areas.

Performs special cleaning duties as assigned by the Coffee Shop Manager.

Disposes of trash and garbage in an appropriate manner.

Places all display items away in secured area at the end of the day.

Able to use cash register appropriately and reconcile receipts.

Greets each customer individually and treats them with respect and dignity. Smiles and reflects a positive attitude at all times.

Is patient with customers and tries not to rush them.

Is able to converse intelligently about all café products and encourages sales of all café products.

Recommends new products and/or specials of the day.

Observes infection control practices at all times.

Via telephone, take and respond to customer requests.

Evaluate inventory and make manager aware of any items to be ordered.

Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education / Experience / License and Certifications

Minimum age 16, High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

Additional Skills

Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.

Basic computer knowledge.

Excellent customer service skills.
Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products.
