Job Summary
The Linen Tech is responsible for both the collection of soiled linen and the delivery of clean linen based on individual par levels of each department. Restocks hospital departments with clean linen as required, and places excess linen in the proper storage place.
Job Description
- Collects soiled linen from all chutes and floors when necessary.
- Loads soiled linen into designated carts and covers per Infection Control guidelines.
- Deliver soiled linens to designated area for pick up by the appropriate party.
- Moves clean linen from the Linen area to proper storage location, as needed.
- Unloads clean linen into appropriate carts or shelves.
- Loads floor delivery carts and delivers linen to each designated location.
- Returns linen carts to storage area.
- Refills linen storage areas on floors in the afternoon.
- Receives and records messages and requests for linen delivery, then makes the necessary deliveries.
- Receives soiled uniforms and scrubs and delivers scrubs when necessary.
- Places orders for linen on an as needed basis.
- Fill out laundry report daily.
- Will perform other duties within the Environmental Services department as assigned.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and write.
- Ability to do basic addition and subtraction.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong customer service and team orientation.
- Ability to establish and maintain friendly and cooperative relationships with all hospital staff.
- Ability to construct positive problem resolutions.
- Flexibility in day-to-day actions and duties.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
