Job Summary
Under the direction of a Cardiologist, independently performs radiographic procedures at a technical level in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. Assists the Cardiologist in performing diagnostic as well as interventional procedures for the heart. The two Cath Lab Tech positions are: (1) Monitor, and (2) Scrub.
Monitor
The monitor is in the control room during the procedure monitoring the vital signs before during and after the procedure, documenting everything that is done during the procedure (i.e. when equipment goes into the patient and when it comes out of the patient. Also documenting what is implanted into the patient and making sure appropriate paper work is done that will go with the patient. Case monitors will also assist in transport when available and well as prepping the patient and cleaning the room post case.
Scrub
The scrub is in the room scrubbed into the case with the doctor in a sterile fashion. The scrub runs the x-ray equipment during the procedure with includes panning the table during image acquisition, moving the C-arm to various angles, switching in and out of different X-ray modes required for various studies. The scrub is also in charge or running the Acist power injector and has to maintain the knowledge of how to use various other equipment during procedure safely and effectively.

Tech is able to perform both the duties of the scrub or the monitor on a daily basis or whenever needed. The tech is also able to cover call for either of these positions in a safe and reliable manner on a regular or as needed basis.
