POSITION SUMMARY
St. Vincent de Paul of Georgia operates a large client choice food pantry that serves over 700 households per month to our neighbors in need. Under the direction of the Food Market Manager, the Food Market Assistant Manager will work in collaboration with volunteers and staff to oversee the day-to-day activities of the food pantry to include distributing food, inventory, stocking of the pantry, picking up donated food and essential non-food items, unloading deliveries, training and supervision of volunteers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Represents the food pantry in a courteous and professional manner with donors, volunteers, visitors, clients, and staff. Answers questions and responds to inquiries while maintaining a high level of respect and dignity for neighbors/shoppers.
- Maintains systems and procedures for the ordering, receiving, storing and distribution of all food and related products.
- Helps in maintaining records of in-kind donations, food received and food distributed.
- Receives and unloads food deliveries and assists with stocking shelves.
- Ensures adherence of food distribution requirements to all internal and external needs.
- Trains volunteers on food pantry operational processes, including unloading deliveries, assembling food boxes, stocking shelves, and maintaining inventory.
- Conducts housekeeping to assure that work areas meet standards for cleanliness and that areas are organized, clean, safe, and clutter free.
- Works in a safe manner and complies with all safety rules and procedures.
- Maintains clear professional and personal boundaries.
- Deescalates and resolves neighbor (client/shopper) or volunteer issues and grievances.
- Attend staff and training meetings as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Six (6) months related customer service and/or retail/grocery experience or training;
- Experience with computers including MicroSoft Outlook and Excel
- Ability to operate manual and electronic pallet jack and forklift
- Strong verbal communication skills; ability to converse with diverse populations
- Reliable, self-motivated and shows initiative
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in a non-profit environment a plus
- Proficient in Spanish a plus
- Ability to support the mission of a Catholic based, non-profit organization

Work Environment: This position is primarily performed in an in-person work environment during regular business hours, Monday through Friday. The employee will regularly move between work areas and may be exposed to varying temperatures, including periodic exposure to refrigerated and freezer environments. The position may also require work on loading docks and exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
The position may involve exposure to dust, noise, moving equipment, and varying environmental conditions typical of warehouse, grocery store or donor processing operations.
Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to support special events, operational needs, or organizational activities.
