DEPARTMENT: Test Engineering
REPORTS TO: Test Manager
PRIMARY FUNCTION OF POSITION:
The RF Test Engineer is responsible for the design, execution, and improvement of test processes for RF and high-frequency electronic products. This includes hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of RF components such as antennas, filters, amplifiers, and transceivers. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in RF principles and experience using advanced RF test equipment to ensure product performance, reliability, and compliance.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Develop and execute test procedures for RF components and systems, including antennas, filters, amplifiers, and transceivers.
- Measure and analyze RF performance parameters such as gain, return loss, insertion loss, VSWR, isolation, and signal-to-noise ratio.
- Operate and maintain specialized RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, and power meters.
- Debug EMI/EMC issues and optimize signal integrity in RF assemblies and systems.
- Troubleshoot performance issues and collaborate directly with customer engineering teams to resolve technical concerns and ensure requirements are met.
- Design and implement test fixtures, setups, and jigs that ensure signal integrity and accurate repeatable measurements.
- Review customer specifications and contracts to extract and fulfill test requirements.
- Work with automation platforms such as LabVIEW, Python, or similar to streamline RF test processes.
- Supervise RF Test Technicians and train team members in proper handling and debug techniques.
- Perform root cause analysis and provide detailed failure reports.
