Position Overview
As the Senior Director, Power Markets, you will be a key leader in driving innovation and enhancing REsurety's power price and carbon emission impact forecasting capabilities. You will be responsible for leading initiatives that increase the accuracy, applicability, and commercial value of our power market and emissions forecast results across our customer base, which includes large clean energy buyers, sellers, and investors. This role requires a deep understanding of power market fundamentals, advanced modeling expertise, strong leadership, and a proven track record of delivering impactful outcomes.
You will work closely with members of REsurety's Engineering, Customer Experience, and Product teams to define the strategic direction of REsurety's fundamentals modeling capabilities and ensure alignment with business objectives. REsurety uses its unique Weather-Smart approach to fundamentals modeling to provide best-in-class forecasts of energy value and risk. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with experts in clean energy, meteorology, electricity system design, fundamentals modeling, and data analysis, as well as influence commercial direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and vision for the development and expansion of REsurety"s fundamentals and/or statistical power price and carbon modeling capabilities.
- Lead and mentor a team of 3-5 modelers who maintain and enhance models to ensure they remain current with evolving market fundamentals and regulatory changes.
- Identify, evaluate, and integrate novel data inputs and advanced analytical techniques to significantly improve model quality and predictive accuracy.
- Interpret complex model outputs, provide in-depth analysis, and drive changes to ensure realistic results that are well-calibrated to observed outcomes.
- Communicate complex research findings, insights, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders, including customers and industry experts.
- Participate in thought leadership to develop and share commercial insights and value from REsurety's power market models.
- Drive innovation in REsurety's power market fundamentals modeling capabilities, identifying new opportunities to enhance their value and impact for customers.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- M.S. or Ph.D. in a technical field such as Economics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in power markets modeling.
- 5+ years of experience developing a high-performing team.
- Deep understanding of the functioning of North American wholesale electricity markets and evolving industry trends.
- Expertise in programming languages (e.g., Python, R) to manipulate, analyze, and visualize complex datasets.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A passion for driving the transition to a cleaner energy future.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with capacity expansion modeling and production cost modeling software (e.g., PLEXOS, Aurora).
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and high-performance computing.
- Proven ability to develop and implement advanced modeling techniques, including machine learning, optimization, and statistical methods.

- Our organization works on a hybrid model. We are in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at our downtown Boston building, and remote work is optional on Wednesdays and Fridays.
