POSITION PURPOSE
- The Biomedical Engineering Intern gains on the job training by shadowing experienced biomedical engineers and radiology engineers under the close supervision of management. Duties include understanding the typical day of an engineer and how to work in a hospital environment, how to respond to service calls, balancing workload, documentation of repairs and Preventative Maintenance (PM) Work Orders, vendor management, learning how to calibrate equipment, troubleshooting techniques for various types of equipment, preventive maintenance procedures, electrical safety, and how to repair equipment. In this position, you will perform preventative maintenance procedures, inventory validation, and have the opportunity to work alongside experienced technicians in a real-time service environment.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Currently enrolled in an associates or technical degree program or have the equivalent military training in the biomedical field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Experience working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment preferred
- Basic understanding of Electronic Technical Field
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
SUPERVISES
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge with electric testing equipment related to Biomedical equipment
- Ability to read, write, speak, hear and comprehend the English language.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Gain on the job training by shadowing experienced biomedical engineers and radiology engineers under the close supervision of management.
- Work includes wire pull projects, modifications of equipment, participation in meetings and other duties as assigned.
- Ability to take call, as scheduled, to respond to equipment breakdowns and failures.
- Documentation of work and job functions is included on a regular basis and is kept timely and up-to-date including work order requests, preventive maintenance procedures and other necessary job history documentation.
- Respond to service calls
- Learn how to balance workload, document repairs and PMs, vendor management, calibrate equipment, troubleshoot equipment
- Train on preventive maintenance procedures, electrical safety, and how to repair equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance procedures, inventory validation, and work alongside experienced technicians in a real-time service environment.
- All other duties as assigned.
