The City is seeking a Special Events Specialist to lead the planning and execution of vibrant, city-wide events. Hiring salary is dependent upon experience. 
The hiring range for the position:
$32.66 - $36.29 / hour.

Bachelors degree in Recreation, event planning or related field and five years experience in event planningAn equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Current CPR and First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain within six months of hire.


Requires valid driver’s license and ability to operate various automobiles, including15-

passenger vans. CDL is not required for this position.


Knowledge of

  • special events management 

  • audio and visual equipment

  • policies, procedures, and activities of the Community Relations Department and ability to stay abreast of changes in policy, procedures, methods, and department needs


Ability to

  • be professional and work with a diverse population

  • work successfully in a team-oriented atmosphere that provides residents and employees with accurate information

  • demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills

  • work with participants needing program adaptation or reasonable accommodation


Skill in

  • public speaking and delivering presentations with poise, voice control and confidence

  • communicate effectively with employees and various facility users in order to establish and maintain positive working relationships

  • prepare written documents with the proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech

  • handle emergency or crisis situations and perform emergency care if necessary

  • handle sensitive or stressful situations with tact and diplomacy

  • comprehend, interpret and apply regulations, policies, and procedures

  • attend to details, multi-task and take initiative

  • work evenings, weekends and some holidays as needed
